Vince Turned 3!

Vince was awfully excited to celebrate his birthday!  He knows that he is now 3 and that his birthday is June 28.  (Pronounced "Dune tweny eight" in Vinner's language.)

Here's the newest 3 year-old just as he woke up on his birthday!  His smile, showing his lower teeth, cracks me up!

Perhaps the most exciting thing about turning 3 was the cake.  Way back in March, Vera, Vince and I sat down and looked at birthday cake ideas for Vera on Pinterest.  While doing so, we spotted a cool truck cake, and Vince absolutely did not forget about it.  He couldn't wait for the cake to come alive.  I will admit that I fuel this excitement; I enjoy the tradition of making and decorating a cake for the kids.

On June 27, we bake birthday cakes.

We still lick the spatula and beaters, but this year we wear an apron.

And on June 28, we decorate birthday cakes.

It turned out pretty cute.  Vince was so excited about the trucks hauling the dirt.  He misunderstood just a bit, and was completely devastated when he couldn't play with the trucks in the dirt.

Receiving mail is so exciting for them.

And receiving money is even more exciting!

Grandma and Papaw stopped over after Vera's softball game to help Vince celebrate his birthday.  We ate ice cream sandwiches outside, and excitedly watched the neighbors harvest their wheat.  Papaw and Vince were equally intrigued.  It was a beautiful, cool evening.

Birthday presents are also so exciting!  Clothes, water balloons, pool toys and a shovel are just what he needs, a little bit of practical and a little bit of fun!

After another of Vera's softball games, Grammie and Papa gave Vinners an awesome birthday surprise: his own Versailles Tigers jersey with his last name on the back!  And, he even received a football to complete the look.  What a cool gift!  Vince (and dad) were pretty excited!

I think you had a pretty great day, Vinners!  Enjoy being 3!
